Know well the changed CAT syllabus and exam pattern

The CAT syllabus may have changed its pattern based on revamped CAT syllabus as regards to type of questions and their scoring system. The detail of the changed CAT syllabus is yet to be announced. However CAT 2018 will be a computer based exam of 3 hours duration with 100 questions divided in 3 sections and will be conducted in more than 140 test cities in India on a Sunday in two sessions- morning and afternoon in the last week of November or first week of December.


In 2017, Data Interpretation (DI) bought more impact on the DILR section than any other section of the CAT EXAM. The increased role of DI questions in CAT EXAM can help you improve your sectional percentile score by 40 points or so, only if the answers marked by you go correct.

VARC remains a high score in the CAT EXAM

The VARC section, if taken care without any laxity during the last few days left to prepare for the CAT EXAM could prove to be a high score section in changed CAT EXAM pattern. Logical reasoning (LR) can prove to be a game changer to boost or doom your CAT percentile score. Despite scoring 97 or 99 percentile in CAT, if your LR remains week you may miss the chance of getting into reputed B schools in India.

Be fully prepared with Quantitative Ability

Quant section needs conceptual clarity as its formula based questions. Your knowledge and skill to apply the fundamentals to solve the Quant questions in CAT will help you score high.

In the end it is always advisable to take online MOCK tests as many as possible and not to mug up vocabulary as it would be of no use as “practice makes a CAT perfect!”
