Prof. Susmitha conducted a session on financial acumen on the sixth day of the MOM Program. She emphasized the importance of reading quarterly statements and instructed students on how to read quarterly financial statements in order to make an accurate assessment of the company's financial strength. The main goal of the session was to eliminate fear in the Finance and accounting subjects, where students were afraid of numbers, playing with numbers, and tackling the balance sheet. Students were divided into five-person teams, with both commerce and non-commerce students on each team. The students were tasked with reviewing quarterly published reports from various organisations and presenting the data in a useful manner. She urged the students to improve their financial skills because it is a matter of survival. From an employee standpoint, every time you are paid, your organization makes less profit, so you should consider what you can do to help the company remain profitable or become more profitable.
