Campus to Corporate – The real Transition

Bangalore, Campus to Corporate was a session that Prof. Kuldeep Sharma, the director of placement, led on the 3rd day of MOM for the New Batch 2023.  The session's goal was to get MBA students ready for the change from the academic setting to the corporate one. The lesson's goal was to give the students the abilities, information, and frame of mind they would need to succeed in their professional lives and fit in with corporate culture.

Although corporate life and campus life have many differences, both phases are crucial in determining a person's development and destiny. Corporate life gives prospects for professional advancement and financial freedom, while campus life serves as the foundation for academic and personal progress. Every stage has its difficulties and rewards, and for many people, moving from campus to the working world marks an important turning point.

In general, campus life tends to be more varied, experimental, and focused on personal growth, whereas corporate culture is more regimented, aimed toward financial success, and motivated by the organization's core principles and ideals. Depending on their background, career objectives, and personal preferences, individuals may adapt differently to each environment, which has its own advantages and difficulties.

Students often concentrate on their chosen field of study while in their educational institutions.  The theoretical and practical underpinnings of the student's chosen field are learned at the fundamental level. They can learn the specialised knowledge and technical proficiency that will serve as the foundation for their future careers throughout this time. While the corporate environment delivers a sense of direction, purpose, and rules to perform effectively in the job, campus life offers fundamental technical knowledge and skill development. These diverse experiences work together to prepare people for a smooth transition from campus to corporate.

When management students start their careers, they frequently have a variety of hopes and objectives. It's important to understand that every person has different aspirations based on their unique interests, values, and experiences. The speaker emphasised that in order to establish a satisfying and successful professional journey, the students should take the time to discover their hobbies and match their career aspirations with their basic values.

The 6 H Model (Honesty, Hunger, Humility, Hard Work, Health, and Human Values) was discussed in detail by the speaker. People who live by these ideals have a greater opportunity of developing personally and professionally, forming lasting bonds with others, and improving society. The "6 H Model" provides a framework for living a meaningful life while upholding honesty and compassion for oneself and other people.

He explained that the main qualities which a company expects from freshers are their commitment, values, passion, pride, leadership skill, Attitude, Confidence, Knowledge, and expertise.  He also gave an awareness of the various job roles that is available for PGDM students.

Additionally, he emphasised on how to sharpen their communication and active listening skills, comprehend the value of teamwork and collaboration, and recognise the relevance of flexibility and resilience. He inspired the students to devote more time to personal growth and lifelong study.

The lesson effectively gave the students the fundamental know-how and abilities they needed for a seamless transition from their academic to professional lives. The lesson is intended to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in their professional careers and have a good impact in their professions by emphasising professionalism, communication, teamwork, adaptability, and continual learning.
