A new idea can begin with a different way of looking at a familiar challenge. That was the invitation at TEDxIIBS 2026, hosted by the International Institute of Business Studies (IIBS), Bengaluru, at its Airport Campus on 17 October.

Guided by the theme “The Founder’s Lens – Seeing What Others Don’t,” the event brought together people whose work spans education, entrepreneurship, agriculture, social activism, research, business and public service. Their varied experiences sparked conversations about leadership, resilience, inclusion, sustainability, innovation, and social responsibility.

Many fields, many ways of seeing

The speaker community reflected the theme's breadth. From education and institutional leadership came Dr. Jay Prakash, Chairman, educationist, business coach and venture capitalist; Dr. Tripuraneni Jaggaiah, Director and Principal of IIBS; and Prof. Dr. Pasupuleti Visweswara Rao, Group Director of Sambhram Group of Institutions and Adjunct Professor of Biomedical Sciences at Taylor’s University, Malaysia.

Perspectives on inclusion, agriculture and public service were represented by Dr. Akkai Padmashali, transgender rights activist, author and founder of Ondede and the Akkai Center for Learning; P. Jayachandra Sharma, natural farmer and activist associated with the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha; and Shri Shankar Bidari, former Director General and Inspector General of Police, Karnataka.

The program also featured voices from industry and enterprise: Mohin Mohammed, Global Talent Attraction and Program Manager at Finastra; Shreya Krishnan, Managing Director of AnitaB.org India; Suchika Ghosh, Assistant Vice President – HR Delivery at State Street, Bengaluru; and Vivek Mishra, Founder, Director and CEO of Fibroheal Woundcare Pvt. Ltd.

Together, these backgrounds connected questions of education and leadership with issues of equality, sustainable farming, public safety, talent, workplace inclusion and healthcare innovation.

Ideas in conversation

Organized under the TEDx program for independently organized local events, TEDxIIBS encouraged attendees to question assumptions and consider perspectives beyond their own fields. The program also highlighted the value of knowledge exchange between educational institutions and the wider community.

For students and the academic community, the event offered an opportunity to engage with experiences from across professions and disciplines. Its central focus was how critical thinking, creativity and responsible innovation can help people respond to challenges in business and society.

TEDxIIBS 2026 brought its theme to life by placing different experiences in conversation. It invited participants to notice what familiar ways of thinking might overlook and to consider how a fresh perspective can lead to meaningful action.

Prof. Shrinidhi V. S., Event Organizer, coordinated the event with support from the production, marketing, and communications teams, the co-organizer, and student volunteers.
