Prof. Sibanand Das led this session for 2022 batch students on the 18th day of the MOM programme. The session's goals were to educate students on the Industrial Disputes Act and to examine some cases of disputes. In addition, students are encouraged to devise strategies for resolving these conflicts. He divided the students into groups and assigned two case studies for analysis. The following are the instances:

  • Case Study of ONGC Limited: On January 7, 2009, there was an industrial dispute, and the cause of the dispute was a demand for higher wages. IOC lost production as a result of a strike by officers of state-owned oil companies seeking higher pay. ONGC's gas output fell by 66%, while crude oil output fell to 270,000 barrels per day from 350,000 barrels.
  • Case study Maruti: On July 18, 2012, workers at one of Maruti's auto factories attacked supervisors, engineers, and other management personnel, burning and killing a senior HR executive, and injuring 100 managers, including two Japanese expatriates. Nine police officers were also injured by the mob. The company's General Manager of Human Resources was charred to death after his attackers broke both of his arms and legs, leaving him unable to leave the burning building. The incident is Suzuki's worst since the company began operations in India in 1983, and it is one of the most heinous industrial crimes in Indian history.

At the end of the session, he conducted MCQs on industrial disputes and their legal framework. In the following session, the students were asked to give a group presentation on the same analysis. Best MBA college in Bangalore

The advantage of the session is that the case study works like experience as if the student has experienced the situation and made good decisions in the past.
